Reminder Regarding Attendance & Payment for Big Bend SHRM Meetings and Events

We are very excited about the continued growth of the Big Bend SHRM Chapter. With this growth comes a few “housekeeping” items, so that we can reach our goals and service our members in the best way possible. 

The Chapter’s policy has always been that attendees at member programs and Chapter functions register and pay for attendance in advance of the event, or at the door the day of the event. As was announced in November of last year, all attendees (including those with pre-paid lunches) must register on line for Chapter meetings and functions, in advance of the event. We accept on-line credit/debit card payment, which makes it convenient to settle the invoice before the event is held. We will also continue to accept payments at the door (cash or check); however, we cannot permit extended unpaid balances, unless there are extenuating circumstances approved in advance, such as direct-billing for an organization that is waiting to clear. Effective at this time, the Chapter requires payment for events before or at the time the event is held. All outstanding invoices for previously-held events are also expected to be settled.

Also with our growth, we have experienced full attendance at functions. We are required to confirm the number of attendees with the venue because we are charged based on head count (whether eating or not). This can be challenging when we have a large audience. To assist with this, all attendees must check-in at the BBSHRM reception area at each and every meeting/event. Additionally, we do not permit anyone to attend without paying for the event, unless the guest speaker and/or Chapter guest has been approved by the Board, in advance of the event.
