Mr. Callen has over 15 years of experience working with human resource professionals and local, regional, and national businesses in the areas of (1) employment law consultation and advice to human resources and business owners for employment matters such as terminations, investigations, general employment law compliance; (2) audits, training, policy review, employment agreements, severance agreements, and (3) litigation defense in state and federal courts and legal disputes involving Department of Labor, EEOC, and state agencies. His legal background includes equity partnership with the AM Law 100 and international law firm of Foley & Lardner, and the regional firm of Adams & Reese LLP. His legal peers selected Mr. Callen as a Florida Legal Elite (less than 2 percent of attorneys are selected), and Mr. Callen is a top ranked Tallahassee employment law attorney by AVVO. Mr. Callen is also a nationally selected published author for the "Inside Legal Minds" book series from Thompson Reuters regarding negotiating and drafting employment agreements (2015-2016), and key components to defending employment litigation (2013). His client representation matters are extensive and cover every aspect of the employment relationship for small to large companies, and include being retained by McDonald's Corporation to work with human resources to reduce voluminous North Florida employment discrimination litigation by an infamous Tallahassee employee representation firm and to combat and successfully defend such litigation, wage and hour disputes ranging from $500 up to $85 million, successful reversal of independent contractor misclassification findings, summary judgment dismissal of employment law claims, non-compete matters, class action defense, employment agreements for CEOs to employment offer letters for non-exempt employees, evaluating wage and hour compliance and classification, policy guidance, and regular "everyday and general" employment law consultation and advice matters for local businesses and human resource professionals. Mr. Callen also serves as the Government Affairs leader for BBSHM in which he monitors employment law trends and laws.
At the December Membership Meeting, we will be collecting new, unwrapped toys to support Toys for Tots. Donations will be distributed to less fortunate children throughout our community so they can experience the joy of Christmas.
