The organizations that will thrive in our current business environment are those who have come to recognize that talent trumps strategy and that success is inextricably linked to the ability to extract the best from each person in the organization. HR plays a critical role in this process; nevertheless many departments operate in a state of chaos because their processes no longer link to business success and the competencies of their people have not kept pace with the changes in the business landscape. Many recognize the need to change however few have found the formula to bring order to the chaos.
In 2008, the HR Team at Eckerd Kids found itself operating in a state of chaos. Eckerd Kids was in need of a significant transformation and its HR team was not positioned to support this effort. “Creating Order from Chaos” is a case study of a dramatic HR transformation that produces a talent strategy linking evaluation and development to the strategic plan, makes organizational culture a core building block, and restructures the HR Department to allow a laser focus on talent management. This practical, entertaining, and highly interactive workshop will walk you through the Eckerd Kids story; outlining the deliberate and intentional steps taken, challenges/obstacles overcome, mistakes made, and systems implemented to drive success. This will all be done while providing you with the framework for executing this change yourself.

Presenter: Tony Moore
Tony Moore is an experienced Human Resource Executive, Speaker, Traininer and self-proclaimed Leadership Fanatic. For more than 20 years Tony has held multiple leadership positions in social service agencies whose primary focus has been the health and well-being of children. After spending several years working directly with children and youth, Tony came to recognize that although he had a heart for children, his greatest passion was the growth and development of his fellow employees.
In 2008, Tony joined Eckerd as the Chief Human Resource Officer to develop and refine the organization’s human resource and professional development practices. In his role Tony was responsible for ensuring Eckerd’s talent management systems attracted, developed, motivated, and retained the people necessary to execute Eckerd’s Strategic Plan. This included execution of the Person Side of the Wheel, which was designed to ensure an organizational culture focusing as intentionally on people as it did on performance.
In his current role, Tony serves as Chief Organizational Development Officer. In this role Tony oversees Talent Management, Talent Development and serves as the organization’s point person in Eckerd’s merger, acquisition, and new business integration process. Tony is also tasked with ensuring operational excellence by coaching and mentoring leaders, providing oversight for the continued evolution of Eckerd’s 5-Dimensional Leadership Development program, and establishing processes and practices whereby all employees receive the support necessary to be successful. Tony is a regular presenter at local and national conferences regarding Eckerd’s organizational transformation, leadership development, team building, corporate culture, strategy and execution. Tony has an MS in Organizational Leadership and is a SHRM Senior Certified Professional.
